Description
Blue wool construction with painted leather visor and functional chinstrap secured by two gilt brass eagle buttons. Polished cotton lining with leather sweatband. Interior with label reading "167" and hand-written name " B.M. BARTLETT". Born in Devil's lake, North Dakota, railroadman Bert Bartlett joined Company D of the 1st North Dakota Volunteers and served with it through it's entire tour of duty during the Spanish-American War. **Fair condition overall. Cap shows some moderate staining and thinning of fabric throughout with som evidence of insect damage. Some damage to edges of sweatband and connection to crown from age and insect damage. Some moderate loss of lining.** $700-$1,200
