This sale features over 300 lots of American History artifacts as well as items from the American West. Highlighted lots include a US Civil War Federal Officer's Frock Coat, a Fine Whole Plate Daguerreotype of a Gentleman by William Shew, San Francisco, and several Silver Mexican War Veterans Medal of John Coffee Hays . Also included is a variety early western artifacts including spurs, surveyor?s equipment, tintypes, rare buttons, uniforms and holsters. Lewis & Grant is especially proud to feature in this auction several lots attributed to John Coffee Hays. These artifacts include a Silver Trophy Presented to John Coffee Hays by the Citizens of Washington City, Texas, a Pair of French-Style Pommel Holsters Attributed to John Coffee Hays, Full Plate Tintype of Elizabeth Brenham Hays, and several documents, books, and personal items believed to have been used by John Hays during his lifetime. This auction also features several excellent lots of western photography, including a Outdoor Whole Plate Tintype of Fernwood, Oakland California, a Texas Ranger Captain?s Badge of Jay Banks, and a variety of rare documents and manuscripts.
