French Provincial Walnut Armoire

late 18th century, the molded and domed cornice with canted corners, above a case fitted with two long doors, each fitted with three panels, the smaller middle one fluted, flanked by canted stop-fluted pilasters, raised above a shaped apron on scrolled toes.

In overall good condition. The assembled case is sturdy and solid, with no notable movement at the joints. The piece exhibits normal rubbing, mars, shrinkage and blemishes consistent with age and use. Each fiche hinge assembly is missing one nut from the three threaded bolts that secure it to the frame. It does not appear to affect its functioning. The doors open and close as designed and the hinges are tightly secured. There is one interior shelf. There is no mechanism or hook-and-eye to secure the left door. The right door retains its lock, but no key. The piece is joined with pegs, mortises and tenons. There is some scattered insect damage throughout. It does not appear to be severe enough to affect the structural integrity.
