French Belle Epoque Bronze Dore-Mounted Tortoiseshell Jewelry Casket

fourth quarter 19th century, the bombe-form box set with scroll-molded corner mounts extending into scrolled feet, the cove-molded cover with bronze trim and a scroll-molded escutcheon, the skirt decorated with bronze dore cornucopias of flowers, the interior lined with fabric.

In estate condition. The molded trim of the cover, now gilded wood, has some small losses and small areas of rubbing. The hinge is in excellent, working condition. The fabric lining the interior of the box has some small wear and losses along the top edge, and pinprick sized holes in the fabric lining the interior of the lid. There are scattered dings to the top edge of the body of the box. There is shrinkage and cracks throughout the tortoiseshell consistent with age. Key is present, but the lock mechanism is no longer working.
