Description

French Three Piece Inlaid Black and Rouge Marble Clock Set, c. 1870, the open escapement time and strike drum clock, with an enamel chapter ring, over a pendulum window flanked by reeded rounded pilasters, on a stepped base, together with a pair of matching coupes, Clock- H.- 19 1/4 in., W.- 14 3/4 in., D.- 6 in.; Coupes- H.- 11 in., W.- 7 in., D.- 4 1/2 in. (3 Pcs.)

Condition

We are unable to test clocks for working order. For the clock, there are a few nicks and chips to the edge of the marble, especially above the pilasters. The hinges have begun to rust at the back of the piece, and the brass shows signs of oxidation. One of the garnitures has been cracked and repaired at the back of the base. Both have a few nicks and chips to the corners and edges. Wear is consistent with age and use.
