Arnau Alemany began his training at the School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona, later continuing at the Conservatory of Sumptuary Arts. In 1978 he held his first solo exhibition at the Serrallonga gallery in Barcelona. In this first period his style followed abstract approaches which gradually became figurative, evolving into the detailed realism, close to magic, which characterises his current production. He has exhibited in Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Paris, Lyon, Lyon, San Francisco, New York and Chicago, and was awarded second prize at the Monte Carlo Biennale in 1991. His work is on display at the Marugame Hirai Museum of Spanish Contemporary Art in Marugame, Japan.
