A set of three Chinese famille rose lidded bowls
Republic period
Each bowl and lid with a mountainous landscape scene with small huts and fishing boats and a four-character inscription. With four-character mark to underside of each bowl and to lid finials. (3).
H: 3 3/4, Dia: 9 in.
H: 9.52, Dia: 22.86 cm. (with lid, each)
Provenance: Estate of Yip Hon (1904-1997). Nicknamed Kwai Wong (translated as Ghost King), Yip Hon was a gambling tycoon in South China. He a amassed great wealth in the casinos there, through his technique of listening dice, eventually opening his own casino.
