Description
A famille rose lidded bowl and saucer with a 6-character Xuantong mark on the bottom and the lid, but believed to date from the Republic period. All 3 pieces have a floral border and depict children playing in a garden setting. Dimensions are: 4 1/2 inches tall X 4 1/2 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The top of the lid has a few minor chips, otherwise good condition. Provenance: From a lady collector in Washington DC, whose father in law (Nelson T Johnson) was sent to China by US State Department in 1906 and was US ambassador to the Republic of China from 1935 to 1941 After he left China he became ambassador to Australia.
