Description
Collection of 3 early New England documents including; 1.) Document issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts dated September 1, 1792. Printed document with ink manuscript fill-ins being a resignation acceptance for Ensign Henry Fowle (1766 - 1837) of the 1st Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Division of Massachusetts militia. Document measures 6.5" x 8.25" (sight) and is housed in frame measuring 8" x 9.5". 2.) Manuscript estate document for Andrew Hall (1698-1750) of Medford, Massachusetts dated April 20, 1759. Andrew Hall ran a distilling business and transport boat business in Medford and document is signed by his widow Abigail. The 2pp (one leaf, double-sided) document measures 12" x 7.5" and is housed in a frame measuring 15" x 9.75". Document exhibits some taping to obverse and some tape residue at upper reverse. 3.) Calligraphy work by Ruth Skimmer of Charlestown, Massachusetts dated 1813. Work is bookplate similar and features central design of ownership surrounded by religious text. Lower left of sheet features ink notation "Grandmother of Frederick Parke Fowle". Ruth Skimmer (1793-1863) married Henry Fowle (1766-1837) See item 1 of this lot. Sheet measures 11.5" x 7" (sight) and is housed in frame measuring 17.5" x 13".
