1741 Massachusetts-Bay in New England Property Deed
April 30, 1741-Dated Colonial Era, Manuscript Document Signed, Dorchester (Boston), Massachusetts Bay in New England, Very Fine.
Authentic Colonial Manuscript Property Deed Document, Signed by family members including: Samuel Sever, Joshua Sever and Mercy Sever (marked with an "X") with wax and paper Seals next to each name, at Dorchester (MA.), 2 pages, written front and back, measuring about 8" x 13" on laid period paper. This Deed is for "one full share of two-thirds parcel of Real Estate." Mercy Sever Widow and her two sons, Joshua and Samuel, are signing over the property to their brother (Mercy's son) William Sever. Also Signed by "Ebenezer Davenport and Nath'l Topliff" as witnesses. Some archivally sealed separation at folds with all writing being crisp and clear. Below the original deed is another slightly later Handwritten acknowledgment notation reading:
"Suffolk Is. - Dorchester, -- Jan. 8, 1745/6. -- The above named Mercy Sever, Joshua Sever, Samuel Sever, Personally appeared and acknowledged the foregoing instrument to be their free acts and William Sever one of the brethren to said Joshua & Samuel Sever acknowledged it to be his free act and deed as much as if his hand and seal had been to it. Before one (Signed ) Benj'a. Bird, Jus. Peace."
