Description
Vintage Publicity Real Photograph Postcard; Depiction of African boys choir in tribal costume. Identification on image, "J. H. BALMER'S-KAFFIR BOYS-". Genuine Photograph - Photo Adv. Co., Minneapolis, Minn. Quick online research shows Balmer toured the boys in Britain and later in the U.S. After failing to earn sufficient money in the U.S., Balmer abandoned the boys who were then rescued by African Americans who supported them and helped them to attend college before returning to South Africa to help their people.
No writing on the reverse. Condition: light toning and soiling, occasional dings, scuffs, and edge wear. Please see photos for additional condition review.
