This edition of St Jerome's Letters is almost a page for page reprint of Torresanus’s 1488 edition, part of the prolific output of Bernardinus Benalius, a native of Bergamo, who printed his first dated book, the Supplementum chronicarum of Jacopo Filippo Foresti, in 1483.
Royal folio: 11.5 by 17"
Thickness 3"
Later (16th or 17th century) Italian limp vellum binding , with manuscript title to the spine
412 leaves.
Wide margins
Occasional dampstains, heavy to the end of the book.
A few pages with very minor wormholes to the margin.
Last few leaves are restored
Collation:
Part 1: (ii.iii.)6, a-p10, q-s8. signed (6), I-CLXXIV (with errors).
Part 2: V4, A10, B8, C-E10, F8, G12, H-Z10. signed (9), VI-CCXXIX, 1 (with errors).
The first leaf of the first part is white (so complete).
