An issue of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, Vol. 7, No. 264, 12pp, 18” x 23”, St. Louis, February 8, 1882. Small yellow library label at top right quadrant. Light expected wear; else, in near fine condition.
This issue's highlight article, "Slaughtered by Sullivan / The Boston Boy Proves Himself Ryan's Master from the First Round", takes up two full columns on the front page and one and a third columns on page three. Early, first report coverage on the famous boxing match between John L. Sullivan (1858-1918) and Patrick "Paddy" Ryan (1851-1900). This was the last time the heavyweight championship would be won in a bare knuckle fight.
