Anthropomorphic Steatite Figure, Bura Asinda-Sikka culture, Niger, 3rd–13th centuries CE.
Ancient figure with classic high-relief treatment of features on an otherwise nearly flat, planar face. Incised lines delineate the coiffure culminating in a crossed form at back. Rings around long neck.
Likely intentionally buried, reddish clay residue is still embedded in pitted surface.
