Cai Wenzhi born in Huanggang County, Hubei Province (Xinzhou District, Wuhan City). Graduated from the ninth period of the Whampoa Military Academy and the thirteenth period of the Army University. Lieutenant General of the National Revolutionary Army.

LOT NOTES/ ARTIST BIO:
Chen Zhifo 陳之佛 (1896 - 1962) a master of gongbi bird-and-flower painting and a pioneer of Chinese modern applied arts, was the first Chinese to study pattern design in Japan at government grants. The phrase “pattern design” at that time is equivalent to the idea of “design” today. After returning to China, Chen taught at the Shanghai Oriental Art School, Shanghai Art University, the National Central University and the National College of Art, where he also served as the principal. He was devoted to cultivating professional and excellent artists for China and had made tremendous contributions to art education.Shen Yinmo 沈尹默 (1883 - June 1, 1971) was a Chinese poet and calligrapher. He was born in Shaanxi, Hanyang province. He made his name in Kyoto, Japan. He was one of the first to write in the new style and he published his poems in periodicals such as La Jeunesse (New Youth) and Xinchao (The Renaissance). Two works that made him famous were Sanxian and Qiuming Ji . Sanxian (1918) was one of the earliest poems written in the new vernacular style. He also wrote poems in the classical style. In his poems, he used rhyme and alliteration similar to the usage in classical poetry. He was a professor in several universities, and later became president of Beiping University.
