Description
Rare Crawford Co, Georgia 2gal "G" Gabriel Ray Jug, this is one very scarce example of southern folk pottery, note this is only the second signed "G" I have ever saw. This is a signed "G" and he and is wife (Late) were both noted to be in Crawford County and he was listed as a jug turner. It was also known that she would also pot and there is a possibility that she could have done this piece. Either way a very important stoneware example out of Crawford County. This is fresh from a Macon Georgia collection. Condition is great with two insignificant glaze flakes on handle edge and a glaze skip on top shoulder. No cracks or hairlines, note the glaze flake caused a crazing line. No repairs. Standing 13 1/2" Tall
