Rare two gallon signed Timmerman Lanier Co. jug . What a outstanding example of Stockton Georgia, this stunning two gallon signed "T" at the base of the neck of the jug which is very hard to find in southern pottery especially in Lanier County. The jug circa 1880-90 range is one of Georgia most sought after examples and the most southern pottery in Georgia. Strong bold lime runs display very well with a scratched two just under the neck treatment. The glaze is just "Wow". Also noted the neck and semi blob top lip treatment is very different on this example which puts it into a different and more sought after category. Again find another one like this, it's gonna be a challenge. Condition is outstanding with a superior handle restoration, this is one amazing job due to the fact that one from two feet away could not tell that it was restored. Correct and matching lime both light and dark colors match to a "T" literally, no pun intended. Other than that is amazing with no chips, cracks. In this situation with the restoration it truly helps due to such a museum level restoration. Probably in the top five restorations I've seen. Fresh example from a Atlanta area collection.
