Original 1950s pitcher by Bauer, Los Angeles, pioneering Mid Century Modern design, pottery body with wooden handle attached by copper clamp with copper screws, black hard rubber under the copper clap, marked "Bauer Los Angeles / made in USA" on the bottom. Typical original Bauer's heavy glaze and heavy weight.

The pitcher is 8" [20.3cm] tall; c. 8" wide including handle, some wear and some copper patina consisting with age, three spots from the kiln cons on the bottom; no chips, no hairlines, the wooden handle is tight, very good condition.

The Bauer company moved from Kentucky to California in 1909, and it wasn't until the early 1930s, when their popularity exploded. The original J.A. Bauer Pottery closed its doors in 1962.
