Description
VICTORIAN THREE PIECE ORGANDY WEDDING GOWN TRAINED, 1867

This is an attractive Victorian regal silk sheer organdy trained gown, 3 piece in construction, bustled wedding gown, and dates of the 1867 period, that a mid to upper class woman would wear.

A deaccession from the Strong Museum in Rochester New York. The gown still retains original Museum ID catalog sewn in tags in sleeve, sash streamer, and skirt, as well as museum papers of catalog identification information.

BODICE:
The trained bodice jacket is decorated with gathered pleats of silk trim accenting collar opening, bodice and tiers above each cuff and flowing vertically. The bodice has a hook and eye front closure fastening into a tight fitting bodice.
The bodice is unlined. The long sleeves curved and tapering at the elbow accented with three tiers of pleated silk. The bodice jacket falls low into the middle of the skirt with long back panel train covering the skirt. There are two silk rosettes fastened to the sides. The jacket has a detachable waist band and back streamers.

SKIRT
The front of the skirt has unusual silk pleating starting below waist band extending to the hem line and adorned with four tiers of pleating and gathered silk. The skirt closes by hooks and loops at the back. The skirt is unlined.

The gown is in fair/good condition. The organdy has a few fabric splits in bodice, one 2-1/2” opening/tear at back seam and has a few small stains. No underarm discoloration.
