Description
This is a very nice map portraying the seventeenth-century European view of the New World. The coastal outlines generally follow Ortelius with nomenclature from a variety of explorers and colonists. Much of the interior and western part of North America are shown as unxplored. There are plenty of sailing ships and also sea monters shown. This example does not include the side panels showing the natives and town plans of the region. This is likely the third state of the plate with the imprint changed to Auct: Guiljelmo Blaeuw.
