**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A set of 3 hand-built and highly burnished pottery figures covered in red slip. The male is adorned in a white vestment and necklace, stands atop arched feet, and holds a petite implement in his right hand. The seated female figure holds a cylindrical drum atop one bent leg, a beater in her right hand, and has a thick, twisted headband. The tallest figure - a female - presents globular breasts beneath sets of 10 cicatrices on each shoulder and has a dramatically lengthened forehead with incised vertical striations. Size of largest: 5" W x 9.625" H (12.7 cm x 24.4 cm)
Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-Artemis Gallery; ex private Stagecoach, Nevada, USA collection, acquired from 1985 to present from galleries such as Arte Primitivo, Art for Eternity, Butterfields, and Riverbend Gallery

Condition
Repair to head of seated figure, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines; 2 standing figures are intact and very good. Each figure has small chips and light abrasions, with fading to pigment, light encrustations, and petite stable hairline fissures in scattered areas. Nice earthen deposits and remains of pigment.
