An antique silver-plated French cigarette box made by Argentan, circa late 19th century, prepared for export to the Russian market - with the initials of Nicholas ii the Russian Tsar. Slightly concave and decorated with rich and fine relief crafting of plants in the Rococo Revival style, in the center of the lid there is an attached gilded decoration of the initials of Tsar Nicholas ii with the Russian crown. It is hypothesized that the item was specially ordered or prepared in honor of the Tsar's coronation. The box is signed in the opening latch by the French company and with another stamp 'p*q': probably the maker's mark(?), dimensions: 9X8.5X1.5 cm. Age patina , interior: partial loss of plating.
