Description
Rare original 1857 copy of the Daily Illinois State Journal that features an advertisement for Lincoln & Herndon, "Attorneys and Counsellors at Law." Promoting that they "will practice in the courts of law and chancery in this state," the ad dates to the period of time when Lincoln was still practicing law with is partner William Herndon in Springfield, but also had his sights set on a senate seat. It is rare to find a period advertisement from Lincoln's civilian career.
