1873 postmaster appointment signed by President Ulysses S. Grant. The document, which bears Grant’s signature in bold ink, appoints a Mr. Jacob Stough as postmaster of Bellefontaine, Ohio. The document also bears the ink signature of Hamilton Fish, Grant’s Secretary of State. Stough’s appointment was one of many Grant would have to make in his capacity of the nation’s chief executive.
