Description
[Counter-Culture] [Blazek, Douglas] Bukowski, Charles The Curtains are Waving and People Walk Through the Afternoon Here and in Berlin and in New York City and in Mexico

(San Francisco: Graham Mackintosh for the Black Sparrow Press, 1967). First and limited edition, #50/125 numbered copies signed by Bukowski. Square 12mo. Unpaginated (8 pp.). An important association copy, inscribed by Bukowski to poet and publisher Douglas Blazek: "For Doug Blazek--/we had a wire/going through to/the sun. I don't think/it's either rusted, cut/or finished. When they/bury my ass in the/charity graveyard, drop/a tiny tear./Buk". Original handbound limp printed brown wrappers, stamped in black and in silver; all edges trimmed. Krumhansl 26

Douglas Blazek (b. 1941) was an instrumental force in the 60s counter-culture literary movement, and helped kickstart the Mimeo Revolution and underground press movement of the era. Blazek founded and edited the literary magazine Ole, and established the alternative press Open Skull. He helped bring critical attention to non-establishment poets, authors, and illustrators, such as Bukowski, Robert Crumb, and d.a. levy, with the publication of their work. A prolific poet in his own right, over his career he has published over 1,500 poems in hundreds of journals and books.

A near-fine copy.
