East Asia, China, Song Dynasty, ca. mid-10th to 12th century CE. An impressive pair of pottery jars, each presenting an apple-form body, a rounded shoulder, a narrow neck, and a flared rim, all sitting upon a discoid, applied foot. Both enveloped in a russet-hued glaze, the vessels also display petite vertical handles that surround their necks; 1 jar features 2 handles, while the other shows 4. Size (both about the same): 4.4" Diameter x 5.2" H (11.2 cm x 13.2 cm)
Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010

Condition
Both have expected surface wear with chipping to rims, as well as nicks and abrasions throughout. Some peeling to glaze. Otherwise, both are intact and excellent with nice remaining pigment.
