East Asia, China, Han Dynasty, ca. 206 BCE to 220 CE. A graceful pottery jar showcasing a piriform silhouette and enveloped in a rich, forest green glaze. The vessel presents a bulbous body that dramatically tapers to a conical neck with a projecting ridge and a thick, flared rim, all sitting upon an annular foot. Several incised rings encircle the vessel, further adorning its exterior. Size: 4.7" Diameter x 5.7" H (11.9 cm x 14.5 cm)
A similar, green-glazed jar hammered for $13,750 at Christie's New York as lot 964 on May 10th, 2018 (live auction 16723).

Professionally repaired with some restoration and repainting over break lines. Chipping to foot, rim, and hip. Expected surface wear with a few scratches and abrasions. Otherwise, excellent with nice remaining glaze.
