Originally listed at $300
Central Asia or Asia Minor, Bactria, ca. 2100 to 1600 BCE. A leaded copper stamp presenting a complex, openwork form resembling a wheel. The annular ornament is comprised of 3 concentric circles with 8 spokes connecting the innermost ring to the middle and 11 between the middle and outer. An arched handle of tubular form projects from the verso. Distinctive to the Bactrian region, seals of this style are sometimes known as "compartmented" seals and were cast both in geometric and figural patterns. Size: 1.9" W x 1.8" H (4.8 cm x 4.6 cm); 4.3" H (10.9 cm) on included custom stand.
