Description
Devotional figure depicting a praying man seated in padmasana on a double level quadrangular base. Hands joined to the chest in prayer.The Vijayanagara empire ruled the Deccan plateau in Southern India and was established in 1336 by the Sangama dynasty. The empire raised mostly as a force to counter the growing Islamic invasion. At its peak, the Vijayanagara empire dominated all of Southern India and the Sultanates of the Deccan. The empire began to falter after the defeat at the Battle of Talikota in 1565 and then ended in 1646.
