Description
Rare & Important Steuben Experimental Cintra Glass Vase with Bouquet Motif, circa 1920 7-1/8 inches (18.1 cm) LITERATURE: T. P. Dimitroff, Frederick Carder and Steuben Glass: American Classics, 1998, p. 127, fig. 5.43 (similar example); P. V. Gardner, The Glass of Frederick Carder, 1971, pl. XVII, fig. C (similar example). This experimental vase was created by gluing the powdered glass motif onto paper, which was then picked up onto the body. When the work was reheated, the paper burned away, leaving a vibrant floral bouquet surrounded by a trace outline of the paper. Very few of these pieces were produced, with the majority featuring animal motifs, making the present example exceptionally rare. Property from an Important Private Collection of Steuben Glass, Waco, Texas
