Description

French dragoon or cavalry steel helmet with gilt brass appliques, Medusa mask comb with inset horsehair, and red feathers issuing from left side having brass-covered leather strap and leather liner with brass rivets. Stamped SIRAUDIN PARIS, A, and 55 to back rim. 10" H x 8" W x 10" D. 19th century.

Private West Tennessee Collection.

Condition

Oxidation to metal and wear to leather commensurate with age. Minute losses to red feather plumage. Minor denting to brass applique containing red feathers.
