Description

DESCRIPTION: 19th Century French Paris porcelain cabinet portrait plate depicting Marie Therese Louise of Savoy, Princesse de Lamballe. Features a reticulated border with gilded accents, enveloping the portrait. Plate is marked along the underside with "La Princesse de Lamballe", and maker Lerosey hallmarks.

Marie Therese Louise of Savoy, Princesse de Lamballe (born September 8, 1749, in France) was a member of the Savoy-Carignano cadet branch of the House of Savoy. She was married to Louis Alexandre de Bourbon-Penthievre, Prince de Lamballe, the heir to the greatest fortune in France. The Princesse de Lamballe was the intimate companion of Queen Marie-Antoinette of France.

M Lerosey who founded Lerosey porcelain decorating studio at 11 Rue de la Paix around 1880. Dating between 1880 and 1890, this mark not only shows his name, but also his address at 11 Rue de la Paix.
