Featured in this lot is this 1900-1920s poster advertising the "L'Eden Palais Carrousel Salon" done by Atelier Finot (Workshop Finot) in Paris, France. Described as a "self-contained entertainment palace," this traveling amusement featured carved facades that measured eighty-nine feet long by forty-two feet tall, and contained stages, bars, booth seating, a carousel with life-sized horses?and several other attractions. An incredible feat of luxury, entertainment, and engineering in the late 1800s and early 1900s.?The poster shows a group of men, women and children watching others ride the large scale carrousel as they walk around the grounds eyeing the bright and colorful lights and beautiful scenery. The women and children are wearing brightly colored, nice clothes and the men are wearing black, brown and grey suits. The bottom right hand corner is written in French but translates to, "Every Evening to 8:30 p.m. The Eden Palace Carrousel Room with Battle of Confetties and Coil Jets, Twice a Week Family Evening: Flower Race & Battle and Champagne Race, Every Thursday: Children's Afternoon Free Distribution of Toys & Balloons". The bottom translates to, "Sundays & Holidays, Opening at 3 p.m. / Workshop Finot, 40.r.des Marais, Paris". The piece has been set on a foam board and plastic wrapped to preserve its condition. It shows good condition overall with slight wear to the top and bottom edges but no signs of obvious damage is present. The poster measures 19 3/8" L x 12 1/2" W.
