Description
Four (4) Royal Vienna hand painted porcelain cabinet plates with central classical or Biblical scenes, signed "Knoeller" or "Knoellez" lower edge, surrounded by gilt vignettes of animals on crimson ground and gilt foliate designs. One (1) depicting Venus, Cupid, and Ganymede in disagreement after the original painting by Angelica Kauffmann executed in 1784, inscribed "Venus, Cupido, und Ganymed. n. Ang. Kaufmann [sic]." to underside; one (1) depicting Diana being bathed by her nymph handmaidens after the original painting by Angelica Kauffmann executed in 1778, inscribed "Diana u. ihre Gefarthinner. n. A. Kaufmann [sic]." to underside; one (1) depicting Belshazzar's Feast during which the Babylonian prince calls Daniel to interpret the writing on the wall, inscribed "Das Gastinahl des Belsazar. Mene, Mene tekel upharsim. Kongil. Maximilianeum, Munchen n. Otto." to underside; and one (1) depicting Abraham expelling Hagar and their son Ishmael under the watchful eye of Sarah and their son Isaac, inscribed "Verstosseung der Hagar" to underside. All with blue shield maker's mark to underside. 9 1/4" dia. German, late 19th century.

Condition
All items with scattered minor wear to gilt and enameled rim. The two plates after Kauffmann have some tape residue to undersides.
