Description
Collection of Japanese ukiyo-e (woodblock) prints, ca. 19th century. Includes Hiroshige's "Poem by Fujiwara Sanemata Ason: Shigeuji's Wife and Chidori no Mae" from the series (Ogura Imitations of One Hundred Poems by One Hundred Poets" ("Ogura nazorae hyakunin isshu"), ca. 1840s. Recut of Hiroshige's "New Year's Sunrise at Susaki". Another work, a view of the Nihonbashi Bridge in Edo (Tokyo), which appears to be mid 19th century. Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, "Suzaku Gate Moon" or "Minamoto no Hiromasa", from the series "One Hundred Aspects of the Moon" ("Tsuki hyakushi"), ca. 1885 - 1892. One print entitled "Osaka Kabuki" by Konishi Hirosada. Two prints of warfare and samurai combat, and one unidentified print, ca. early to mid 19th century of a fashionable lady outside her home.
