Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Jemdet Nasr Period, ca. 3100 to 2700 BCE. A gorgeous paste glass cylinder seal boasting a deep hue of ultramarine wrapped at the midsection with a thick band of lustrous gold. The tubular stamp is drilled from both ends to create a central shaft, and features relief of a double-striated lattice motif along the exterior. Size: 1.1" L x 0.2" Diameter (2.8 cm x 0.5 cm); gold quality: 91.82% (equivalent to over 22 karats); total weight: 2.6 grams
