Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A forged-copper pick axe head of a utilitarian form. The axe head features a narrow, vertically oriented blade, a stocky neck, and a cylindrical socketing shaft with ringed rims and a slightly slanted profile. Pickaxe heads like this example were typically used for shaping large pieces of wood and stone. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only. Size: 6.2" L x 1.375" W (15.7 cm x 3.5 cm)

Restoration to roughly 1" back section of socketing shaft. Nicks and heavy encrustations to blade and socketing shaft. Great patina throughout.
