Ancient South Arabian limestone stele Circa 3rd-1st Century B.C. Size 15 1/2 inches high x 7 1/2 inches wide. Fine carved limestone rectangular shape stele decorated with a male head in relief, with long slender nose, recessed almond-shaped eyes underneath deep brows and small round ears, with inscription in Sabaean, Gimel Ayan Sadick Mem, Gasem or Gosem in Sabean. traces of red paint over surface. Provenance: Ex David Hendin acquired in NYC market about 20 years ago.
