[Manuscript/Ephemera] Three vividly-executed water color sketches of scenes of India, executed and signed by Rose Stewart, probably the wife or daughter of a British East India Company official, in 1819.One scenes shows a fort on a hill; the second show a native building. The third sketch, of substantial interest, is title "View of the North-East Angle of Seringapatam." Modern day Srirangapatna is a city in Karnatake State whose monuments, shown in this sketch, have been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was the scene of the decisive battle of the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War in 1799. The sketch is an early and authentic depiction of this storied location.Each sketches measures 5" x 7.75", set in hand ruled double ruled black frames on high quality wove paper.
