Description: A great example of the African American folk art that was created to memorialize the dead for years. This art was popular during the early 20th century and after. They are different mosaic-collaged objects that can work as containers of all sorts: bottles, boxes, vases, pots, teapots, kettles, urns, pitchers, picture frames, mirrors. The makers remain anonymous and they create these jugs by covering a vessel in putty or a similar substance, pushing objects of remembrance, possessions and symbols alike, into the putty.
This small American jug piece is a crystal alcohol bottle with buttons, sea shells, plastic jewelry pieces and small rabbit decorations. The inside is empty and it doesn't have a cap on. Some pieces are missing.
The dimensions are 13,5cm. Ã— 9,3 cm. (5cm. width)
In good condition as these pieces are handmade and meant to be personal not perfect.
