Mike Hill, Studio, NYC, 1986
Print in Colors, Printed in the 80s
8 3/4" x 11 1/4"
Bruce Weber is an American fashion photographer and filmmaker credited with bringing more provocative images of the male body into public spotlight during the 1980s. In both fashion and fine art, his casual photographs of handsome and athletic American youth, redefined the contemporary perception of masculinity. â€Å“I donâ€â„¢t really work editorially in a large number of magazines because a lot of magazines donâ€â„¢t want my kind of photographs,â€Â he has said. â€Å“Itâ€â„¢s too risky for them.â€Â Born on March 29, 1946 in Greensburg, PA, he studied at New York University before embarking on his commercial photography career working on campaigns for Calvin Klein, Abercrombie & Fitch, Versace, and Ralph Lauren, as well as some editorial work for Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Life. Weberâ€â„¢s films include Letâ€â„¢s Get Lost (1988), a novel-like documentary on the troubled jazz trumpeter Chet Baker. He currently lives and works in Miami, FL.
