Italian born Pierre Cardin arrived on the Paris scene ablaze. Beginning his career under Jean Paquin and Elsa Schiaparelli, Cardin worked as a tailor for Christian Dior until 1960 brought the launch of his eponymous couturier. The bubble dress, among other geometric silhouettes, credit Pierre Cardin with the popularization of futuristic fashion and the Space Age movement. Notably, Cardin's progressive mind contributed to the democratization of fashion in his early establishment of the ready-to-wear line, and his subsequent menswear collections significantly slackened the fit of men's tailoring.
