East Asia, China, Han Dynasty, ca. 206 BCE to 220 CE. A collection of 3 ancient Chinese pottery and leaded-bronze artifacts. A cast leaded-bronze taotie mask with a tab and rivet hole for mounting on a vessel. A charming hollow-molded terracotta tomb figure of a slumbering duck or goose has folded wings delineated with stylized feathers and rests on cylindrical base. The last artifact is a pottery dish with a green glaze, likely made for holding offerings in a tomb. Size of largest (dish): 5.25" Diameter x 0.5" W (13.3 cm x 1.3 cm)
Provenance: ex-Nancy and Dr. E.F. Simpson collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired from 1970 to 2000

Condition
Chip to dish rim and abrasions; silvery iridescence. Duck is intact and very good with mineral and earthen encrustations. Taotie is intact with green patina.
