Backus, Albert Ernest "Beanie" (1906 –1990) Indian River School, founder of the Highwaymen movement - Florida Artist. Oil on canvas - Signed lower right dated 1989. Use of brush and palette knife. Titled "View Of The Indian River Lagoon" - A cluster of palms sway gently in the afternoon breeze overlooking the lagoon. Fluffy white clouds abound reflecting the suns brilliant rays as sailboats drift gently by in the distance. Canvas measures 24x30 framed to overall size of 31x37. Accompanied with an appraisal from the Backus Museum of $40,000 in 2007.Albert Ernest Backus (1906-1990) was a largely self-taught artist from Fort Pierce, Florida who created iconic images of the timeless beauty of the Florida landscape.
