The artist was a pupil of Sam Newton, an original founding member of The Florida Highwaymen, young 1950s and 1960s era African American landscape artists mentored by Albert Ernest (Beanie) Backus (American, 1906-1990), who was regarded as the Dean of Florida Painters. Presented in a decorative frame. Includes 2007 newspaper article about the artist, attached to verso. Good overall condition, with minor loss and normal wear to frame. Measures 12 in. x 15 1/4 in.
