Description
Oil on masonite board. Signed lower right. Marinus Johannes de Jongere (Dutch, 1912-1978). Framed. The artist lived in Amsterdam most of his career and was well known for his dramatic images of the harbor at Rotterdam during its shipping glory days in the 1950s and 1960s. His harbor images are the most valued works by collectors and the shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis commissioned the artist to paint 28 works depicted ships from the Onassis fleet in the late 1950s.
