A spectacular color lithograph on paper, an artist's proof apart from the edition of 100 impressions, by Paul Signac, who is among the pioneers of Pointillism, a Post-Impressionist technique in which color was applied in minute dots to create a luminous effect. Signac adapted his skills as a painter to printmaking in order to reach a broader audience, creating a small number of color lithographs like this one. Signac specialized in such coastal scenes and used complementary colors to arrive at a brilliant, glistening effect. A very special example set in a beautiful custom gilded frame. The artwork has not been examined outside the frame but appears to be in very good condition. Signed in pencil by the artist on lower right.
