Description
Stellar B.F. Landrum Two gallon Jug 1840's of Edgefield district South Carolina. The Landrum family comes from the Scotland around 1688-70 and settled in Virginia and through North Carolina, then ultimately Edgefield South Carolina. The Landrum's are Rev. John(1765-1846) also brother Abner Landrum (1785-1859) and last brother Amos (1780-1862) all took part in early stoneware production of Alkaline glaze in the south. This two gallon jug made at Horse Creek Valley circa 1840s, slave made with impressed circle cross mark under the lower handle terminal, is a outstanding jug. This piece has a outstanding glaze of earthy golden honey to a rich earthy brown alkaline glaze that encases the entire jug. The strong square style handle and a fine double collared rim all point to BF Landrum site. Quality investment grade example and when it comes to condition, simply Mint. No chips, cracks or repairs. Fresh example from a middle eastern Georgia collection. Standing 13" Tall
