Description
Stunning Circa 1840-1841 Edgefield South Carolina Phoenix Factory two gallon vessel, with strong attribution to potter Thomas Chandler (1810-1854) due to traits on the handle terminal upper and lower. The form and which is typical of Chandler pottery and the fact of being very well turned and stunning glaze. The glaze is stunning with earthy rich brown background to a rich modified lime bold runs on both sides of the jug. Has a double collar neck rim with a few glaze flakes, which is typical of age and wear This piece is not marked but could be possibly but has a very mature glaze that would cover up a mark, but being offered as a unsigned example. This is a outstanding vessel with a stunning glaze that will fit in any southern or museum collection, and is fresh find from a barn in Commerce Georgia. Condition, again has a few rim - glaze flakes see pictures no major chips or cracks and has No repairs. Standing 14" Tall
