Condition

The canvas has been lined resulting in the loss of impasto in some areas.

Craquelure throughout which is stable. There is a small scratch to the lower left in the sea.

Surface dirt and a dirty varnish layer.

The rigging appears to have been retouched.

UV light reveals scattered retouchings, some of which are visible to the naked eye, and possibly some over-painting to the sea however a thick and uneven varnish layer makes it difficult to decipher.
